Addiction Support & Counselling:
We offer one-to-one support on an appointment basis. We provide referrals and liaison with prescribing services. This also covers harm minimisation and emotional support.
Art Group:
Express yourself through art for two hours on a Thursday afternoon. wintercomfort have a resident art gallery displaying the talents of our clients.
Big Issue:
The Cambridge office of The Big Issue operate from our premises. Please telephone The Big Issue office on 01223 519424 for further details.
Baths and Showers:
Use of these facilities (including a towel, soap and shampoo), are free of charge and available until 12 noon. In addition to the above we make a small charge to contribute to the costs of the more expensive items such as razors, toothbrushes and shaving foam.
Cooked Lunch:
Served daily, 12:00 – 1:00 pm. Main meal costs £1.50 and a dessert is 50 pence. Currently, meal vouchers are available from a small selection of local churches. Should you wish to purchase meal vouchers for distribution to homeless people, please call 01223 518140 for further information.
Drop-in:
We are open between 10.30 am and 1.30 pm for informal and social support as well as use of the facilities.
Informal Activities:
We have a small selection of board games, a weekly general knowledge quiz and occasionally arrange bingo sessions.
Key-working:
A chance to work through any problems a client may have, for example, bills, housing or benefit issues etc. Clients are allocated a Key-worker who will be available for support and guidance.
Laundry:
We provide a full service wash at a charge of £2.50. wintercomfort will not take any responsibility for loss of, or damage to property.
Library:
We have a range of ex-library books and books donated by local people for clients to read.
Life Skills:
We offer activities to help clients with basic numeracy, literacy and IT skills. This can include anything from writing CV’s and covering letters for potential employment to budgeting weekly income.
Mental Health Support:
Members of Cambridge Cyrenians Mental Health Team can be available to provide support and help with mental health issues.
Payphone:
wintercomfort will happily make calls to other local agencies on behalf of our clients. Personal calls may be made from the payphone in The Centre.
Poetry Club:
Display your talent in our poets’ corner. Be inspired by the current week’s topic and put pen to paper.
Refreshments:
Coffee, tea and squash are served in The Centre for a small charge of 10 pence per drink.
Street Outreach Team:
The Street Outreach Team visit on Thursdays from 11.30 am. wintercomfort staff can assist in contacting the Street Outreach Team by telephone at other times.
