And the Wookies walked

3/5/2016

Families put on their best Star Wars costumes to head to the Wookiee Walk in Milton Country Park yesterday. The event, held for the third time this year, gives families the opportunity to follow a 2km trail through the park dressed as characters from the sci-fi movies.

The event was created by Sarah Pesonen when she was trying to set up a walk in Milton Country Park three years ago, and the only date the park could offer her was May the 4th. With a pun on "May the force (be with you)", the Wookiee Walk was born.

Sarah said: "I think people are quite excited this year with the new film - there's quite a lot of interest in Star Wars. I really like getting families involved."

The walkers set off at 10am and the event wrapped up at 12.30pm. It was attended by around 60 people and raised at least £250 for Wintercomfort.

Walkers were also treated to free cake courtesy of charity FoodCycle and free fruit from the Co-Op in Great Shelford.
