Wintercomfort service change in response to COVID-19


Important update: It’s with very heavy hearts that on Wednesday 25th March we had to close Wintercomfort for the foreseeable future as a result of COVID-19. This was needed to protect our service users and staff team collectively. We will be maintaining contact with our service user by phone and email. Please do not phone Wintercomfort unless you are homeless and in need of support. Please email us with any offers of help or support due to staff shortages we may take a few days to respond. 


We have working very hard with our partners, including Cambridge City Council, to verify all rough sleepers. In the coming days accommodation will be provided for ALL verified rough sleepers, in temporary accommodation, supplied with food and not left on the streets, funded by the council. All our service users were given food vouchers, toiletries and equipped with mobile phones to ensure they are contactable. 


We’d like to thank our hugely dedicated and professional staff, volunteers and partners for all they do to support the homeless community in Cambridge. Our van and one member our staff will be driving to support the NHS in the coming weeks; we have offered all our cleaning materials to our partners. 


We’d like to reassure our supporters that Wintercomfort remains financially resilient, staff jobs are secure and once COVID-19 has gone we’ll be back providing our vital services, enabling individuals to move out of homelessness for good, as we have for the last 30 years. 


We have a number of immediate issues with our social enterprises being closed for the foreseeable future this is an important income stream for Wintercomfort.
