Having spent more than 15 years homeless on the streets of Cambridge, 2021 was a year of tremendous positive change for Stuart.
Early in the year, he moved into his own flat and was then able to begin to start rebuilding his life. In late September, supported by our Employment Project Worker, Stuart began training with our social enterprise business Overstream Clean and Garden and is now a valued member of the team. The ability to secure and sustain employment is a key factor in breaking the cycle of homelessness and this is such an important step in Stuart’s recovery.
Stuart’s story is one that brings a smile to the face of everyone at Wintercomfort. Having accessed services at the centre for so many years, his recent breakthrough is testament to his strength and resilience along with the tireless dedication and unwavering commitment that the team shows to everyone that accesses our services.
“I have wanted to be back in work for so long. Having a job gives me purpose and being part of a team means so much to me.”
