Spring News

Wintercomfort
Published: 2nd April 2026

As we step into spring, we want to take a moment to warmly welcome all our supporters and say thank you. Over the past few months, your generosity, time, and encouragement have made a real difference to people experiencing or at risk of homelessness in Cambridge. Your continued support allows us to be there for those who need it most.

So far this year, we have already made an impact, 1,011 breakfasts have been handed out to people in need, 33 individuals have taken part in cooking lessons, gaining an essential life skill, and 60 people have been supported into accommodation or received tenancy support, helping them take vital steps towards stability.

A Record Breaking Sleepout

This year’s annual Sleepout for Cambridge took place last month, it was another memorable evening at the Cledara Abbey Stadium, and we are incredibly grateful to everyone who took part or supported the event.
Together, supporters raised a record-breaking total of £44,000 for Cambridge United Foundation and Wintercomfort.
The evening was enjoyable, with a quiz and a delicious meal, and the seriousness of why we were all there was never forgotten. The Sleepout provides a small insight into the reality that people on the streets have to face, and to highlight why and how both charities support vulnerable people in our community.
A particularly moving moment came when one of the individuals supported by Wintercomfort shared her personal story, describing her journey over the past 18 months from homelessness to secure accommodation, and how tailored support has helped rebuild her confidence and independence.
We would like to thank everyone who gave up their Friday night and braved the elements in solidarity with those experiencing homelessness. Special thanks go to the local businesses, organisations, and community members who showed such commitment and enthusiasm.
We look forward to welcoming supporters back again next year!

Another successful Cambridge Half Marathon

This year, we were proud to have 17 incredible runners take on the Cambridge Half Marathon in support of Wintercomfort.
Each runner showed dedication, resilience, and determination, not just on race day, but throughout their fundraising journeys. Every pound raised will go towards supporting people experiencing homelessness, helping us provide essential services such as food, showers, healthcare access, housing support, and long-term guidance to rebuild lives.
We are hugely grateful to every one of our Wintercomfort runners!
