An Update Regarding Overstream Clean
In 2014 Wintercomfort started a cleaning social enterprise Overstream Clean and Garden (OSC) to add to the other initiatives and activities that we delivered in support of the homeless and vulnerably housed in Cambridge. The objectives of OSC were to create meaningful training and work opportunities for those furthest away from the job market who face multiple barriers to work.
In 2025 Wintercomfort supported over 800 people who were homeless or vulnerably housed, a significant increase on previous years. As a result, throughout 2025 the board of trustees and the senior management team undertook a complete review of the services offered by the Charity to ensure that we were delivering what meets the needs of the people we support in the most effective way that could be sustained on the income we generate.
One of the outcomes of this review is that we have decided to cease trading OSC and to allocate our resources to our other specialist projects and activities to prevent people from becoming homeless as well as providing essential welfare for those who are rough sleeping.
We have given this decision careful consideration and thought, and we believe that this is in the best interest of the long-term financial sustainability of the Charity as Overstream Clean and Garden has made significant losses year on year for many years, and this is no longer sustainable.
We are very grateful to all our customers who have supported OSC and to all our cleaning operatives who have worked with us over the years.
