This Mental Health Awareness Week, to raise funds for our Social Inclusion Programme, a team of staff and people supported by Wintercomfort climbed the height of Ben Nevis, at Clip ‘n Climb Cambridge.

Some of the climbing walls were daunting, particularly for those who have never climbed before, but with the support of the team, we managed to reach the summit in one hour which is an amazing achievement!

We all know how important daily exercise and being outside in nature is for our mental wellbeing, yet these experiences are often so out of reach for many. Our Social Inclusion Programme provides opportunities for group visits, such as trips to the Botanic Gardens and team fishing days, as well as fitness programmes and personal training. Hugely important in helping people to build self-confidence, resilience, and mental wellbeing.

A group of people accessing our services wanted to show their appreciation of Wintercomfort by playing an active role in fundraising. We set ourselves a climbing challenge as well as organising a walk from Waterbeach to Wintercomfort for those people who wanted to be involved but were unable to climb due to health reasons.

We are so grateful for the amazing generosity of our supporters, and hope to be able to use some of the money raised to fund a group trip to the seaside this summer.
