2026 Campaign: Home Starts Here

Helping people to not just move in – but move on!

We need your help

Homelessness in Cambridge is increasing. Every year Wintercomfort supports hundreds of people who are homeless or vulnerably housed secure permanent accommodation.

But once accommodation is provided, nearly all are arriving in empty rooms. No bed. No kettle. No basic essentials. Without these, routines break down quickly, the space isn’t comfortable or warm and meals are skipped. Daily life becomes overwhelming. Too often, we see tenancies fail and people end up back where they started.

There is a solution

A donation of £500 would pay for a Core Living Pack which will transform an empty property into a safe, liveable home from day one.

It doesn’t just provide items – it creates the foundation for stability, dignity, and independence. With the right support in place, people don’t just move in – they move forward.

What each pack can provide:

🛏️ Sleep & Rest: Bed frame, mattress, bedding, pillows, lamp

🍽️ Food & Nutrition: Kettle, toaster, cookware, utensils, crockery

🪑 Basic Living: Table, chairs, storage

🧼 Hygiene & Cleaning: Towels, cleaning equipment, toiletries

Wherever possible, furniture will be sourced through Emmaus Cambridge. This allows individuals to choose their own items, supporting dignity, autonomy, and ownership. All items are second-hand and upcycled, reducing waste while supporting another local charity. Where new items are required, we ensure best value and seek supplier support for this charitable initiative.

How you can help

We want to raise £50,000 over the next 6 months to help 100 homeless people not just move in but to move on.

We are asking as many local corporates as possible to sign up and pledge £500 to pay for one person to be given a Core Living Pack to help get them get started in their new life

There are two simple ways to support the campaign. Your company can either make a direct donation of £500, or you can fundraise as a team through workplace events, sponsored challenges, coffee mornings or other team activities. We will provide guidance, materials and support to help you maximise your fundraising events and if you can raise over £500 – even better!
