James runs the Cambridge Half Marathon!

Wintercomfort has been supporting James for a number of years, and James has openly told us his story, back in 2022. You can read that article, https://wintercomfort.org.uk/stories/james-story/ and on our website.
Three years later, James is still struggling with the trauma he has faced. Although James is still living in his makeshift hut, and enjoying being close to nature, James has also spent some of the last 8 years moving in and out of temporary accommodation, often being moved around and it has always felt temporary.
His dream is to save up to buy a boat, and to live on it, and be free and secure. He is “done” with temporary housing. He wants to make his son, William, proud, and see him again.

James has decided to run the Cambridge Half Marathon, once again, this year for Wintercomfort. He wants to do it, to help our charity, because “you have given me so much”.

James not only wants to run the Cambridge Half for everyone who is homeless in Cambridge, and also, rather wonderfully, so that he has “completed a whole marathon in two halves”.  Although homeless, James is active, fit and ready to complete the run.

We are very grateful that Up and Running, the running shop in Cambridge City Centre, upon hearing about James and his run, have donated a pair of trainers and socks for James to run the half marathon in. Thank you to Ian and the team for supplying these.

James has a Just Giving page, and you can support his fundraising efforts and give him messages of support, with this link. (https://www.justgiving.com/page/james-jolly-3)
