Volunteering

Volunteers play a vital role in providing Wintercomfort’s services for homeless people, working with service users, or helping with publicity and events.

We are committed to providing volunteers with a safe, fulfilling and rewarding experience, as well as offering the opportunity to meet new people, experience new things and help to make a real difference to the lives of homeless and vulnerably housed men and women in Cambridge.

As a day service supporting adults, our volunteers must be over the age of 18, and our volunteering opportunities are during daytime hours. A DBS check is required for the majority of our volunteer opportunities at Wintercomfort, which we can arrange for you.

“I feel incredibly fortunate to work with such genuinely warm and dedicated individuals. Wintercomfort volunteers are the most approachable, friendly and non-judgemental people. Knowing you’re contributing to making a difference to peoples’ lives is a special thing.”

Gemma, our Volunteer Co-Ordinator

I absolutely love spending time getting to know Service Users and celebrating their individual skills. Volunteering here has also helped me build my confidence. Wintercomfort feels like a big family to me and my time spent here is always the best part of my week.

Volunteering at Wintercomfort has allowed me to meet such an amazing cross section of society and nationalities. Whether it’s about housing, work, addiction, or renewing contact with family, it’s a delight to share service users’ incredible ability to rebuild their lives.
