🌞 Thank You for Supporting Our Summer Appeal
First and foremost, a heartfelt thank you to everyone who contributed to our Summer Appeal. With your support, we raised over £5,000.00, which has made a vital difference during the warmer months.
While our centre is open 365 days a year, the summer brings unique challenges for people experiencing homelessness. With extended opening hours and higher demand for essentials like sun cream, bottled water, lighter clothing, and personal hygiene items, your donations have helped us go the extra mile to keep people safe, comfortable, and supported through the heat. We were also able to purchase a gazebo to provide extra shade in our courtyard.
Your continued generosity ensures we can continue adapting our services to meet the changing needs of those we support
🏆 Wintercomfort Take Silver in the McLafferty Cup
In other exciting news, a team from Wintercomfort recently took part in Cambridge’s annual football tournament, the Tommy McLafferty Cup, a brilliant six-a-side football tournament that brings together teams from the local homelessness sector. It’s a celebration of community, sport, and connection, and we’re thrilled to share that Team Wintercomfort were proud runners-up in this year’s competition! A fantastic effort from everyone involved, and a big thank you to the Cambridge South Rotary Club and all the teams who made the day so special.
👨🍳 Kitchen Takeovers & Corporate Visits
We’ve also had a fantastic few months hosting kitchen takeovers at Overstream House; from a range of community supporters to corporate takeovers. These sessions are not only a great way to share skills and serve up delicious meals, but they also provide those that we support with valuable experience in a lively, supportive environment.
