World Homeless Day 2026

Get involved with Wintercomfort this October

Monday 5 October is World Homeless Day: a chance to raise awareness of homelessness, challenge misconceptions, and take action to support people experiencing homelessness in Cambridge.
At Wintercomfort, we know that homelessness doesn’t only happen in winter. Every day of the year, people come through our doors looking for support, advice, community and hope.

Why it matters

Cambridge is one of the UK’s wealthiest cities, but it is also one of its most unequal. Rising housing costs, insecure work, poor mental health and the cost of living continue to push more people into housing crisis.
Behind every statistic is a person with their own story.
By supporting Wintercomfort, you’re helping people access practical support, specialist advice and the confidence to rebuild their lives.

How you can get involved

There are lots of ways to support Wintercomfort this World Homeless Day.

Host a fundraising event

Bring your friends, colleagues or community together by organising your own fundraiser.
Some ideas include:
  • Quiz night
  • Coffee morning
  • Bake sale
  • Charity raffle
  • Sponsored walk
  • Dress-down day
Have another idea? We’d love to hear it.

Take on a Sleep Out

Spend one night outdoors in solidarity with people experiencing homelessness while raising sponsorship to support Wintercomfort’s work.
Although a sleep out can never truly replicate homelessness, it offers an opportunity to reflect, raise awareness and start conversations.

Make a donation

Every donation helps us provide practical support and long-term pathways out of homelessness.
Whether it’s £10 or £1,000, your support helps people move towards safer, healthier and more independent lives.

We’d love to hear from you
