World Homeless Day takes place on Saturday 10 October, providing an opportunity to raise awareness of homelessness and highlight the support available to people experiencing homelessness and housing insecurity.

At Wintercomfort, we will be marking the day with a week of activity, combining awareness-raising communications with events at Overstream House for the people we support, local residents, businesses and community groups.

A week of raising awareness

In the week leading up to World Homeless Day, our social media and communications will focus on homelessness and the work we do at Wintercomfort.

We will be sharing statistics, updates and interviews to give an insight into the experiences of people we support and the range of services available at Wintercomfort.

Open Afternoon – Friday 9 October

On Friday 9 October, we will be opening the doors of Overstream House to local groups, businesses and our neighbours for an Open Afternoon from 12.30pm to 2pm.

Staff and people who use our services will be there to welcome visitors for tea, coffee and cake.

The afternoon will provide an opportunity for local people to:

• Visit Wintercomfort and see our day centre
• Find out more about the support we provide
• Meet staff and people who use our services
• Ask questions about homelessness in Cambridge
• Learn more about how they can support our work

We want the afternoon to be a chance for people in the local community to get to know Wintercomfort and understand more about what happens at Overstream House each day.

World Homeless Day – Saturday 10 October

On World Homeless Day itself, we will be sharing a dedicated post across all of our social media channels, helping to raise awareness of homelessness and the work taking place across Cambridge to support people experiencing it.

Jumble Sale – Sunday 11 October

On Sunday 11 October, we will be holding a jumble sale from Midday to 2pm.

Get involved

There will be opportunities for volunteers, local businesses, community groups and members of the public to get involved in our World Homeless Day activities.
